Windows Script Host Error [Fixed]

windows script host errorBefore troubleshooting any Windows Script Host error, it’s best to understand exactly what it is. Windows Script Host is how Microsoft programmed Windows to operate all programs and actions within the operating system. To put it in a simple way, it’s like a play list of your favorite songs. The first action completed, then the second, and so forth. This action is how your computer operates.

The problem is that hackers and other black hats have become quite good at writing scripts that hijack this part of the windows operating system. Since Java Script and other popular coding languages are used throughout these script hosts, they are the most targeted to virus and trojans. Since Windows automatically places this “play list” the way it feels necessary, all a hijacker has to do is write a code that tricks Windows into placing it at the top of this list. In essence, they rewrite your “play list” so that instead of getting your programs, you get whatever the black hat wants you to get.

Microsoft has tried diligently to help slow down this problem by allowing a way for companies to digitally sign their script hosts. Although this did slow the problem down, it didn’t eliminate the problem as hackers seem to find ways around this. Here are some ways to prevent Windows Script Errors.

Always Check New Scripts Before Installing

It’s amazing how many people actually don’t follow these words of advise. They click away, not wanting to waste any time installing a new program. Then their computer starts running slow, their patience wears thin. All of which could have been prevented by just checking to make sure that the new program was digitally signed.
