A good registry cleaner is the one that performs a fast and comprehensive scan of the registry and detects accurately the problem-registry and fixes it. While most registry cleaning software claim to do this, the level of accuracy varies a lot and so do the scan speeds. That is why, users need to do some looking around in order to find the best software for themselves. Registry Booster is certainly one of the stronger contenders among these software. Let us see how it fares in our test.
Features wise, RegistryBooster is hard to match. Not only does it come with the basic scanner and registry back-up tool, but also with registry defragment tool. This combination is quite rare and hence wins extra points from us. The user’s control over the scan is also commendable and will be appreciated by knowledgeable users. However, novices need not worry; the software is very user-friendly.
The interface is really interesting and the first screen itself displays a lot of valuable information such as the date of last scan etc. On the left side of the window, there is a registry health meter in order to inform whether the registry system is intact or messed up, and if messed up, to what extent. There is a prominent “start scan” button at the middle with other important options on tabs over head. There is no excess information or description on the interface giving it a very neat and clean look.
Moving on from visuals and coming down to actual working, one has to say that the scan speed is nothing to write home about; although not slow enough to be labeled tardy, the speed is nowhere near its rivals. However, accuracy was right up there. It managed to detect almost all errors and eliminated most of them. The results were some of the best we have in terms of error fixing. So, barring the relatively slow scan process, this software is among the best.
The registry defragment function of RegistryBooster is like its scan: slow but spot on. Overall performance of our computer was significantly better after both scan and defragment were run. There is one thing that that is a bit of let down though. In order for the full effect of the scan or defragment to take place, the computer needs to be restarted. Depending on the frequency of the scans or defrags you will perform, this can be vary from a non-issue to a really irritating one.
The basic scan and fix mechanism of RegistryBooster is the best part of this software. Compared to its competitors, it is certainly above average. The best part is, before any defrag or scan, the registry is automatically backed up. This makes RegistryBooster absent-minded people proof. The clean interface also is a strong point of this software and the registry health meter sets this software apart from the rest. This is indeed a good software but can not be called the best. Hence, even though RegistryBooster is a fine software, our 2010 registry cleaner review found RegCure to be the top registry cleaner.
